The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him. But he will sweep away his enemies in an overwhelming flood. He will pursue his foes into the darkness of the night. Nahum 1:7-8 NLT
Trust is the key that opens God’s heart. To stay close to God and rely on His refuge, we must remain trusting for He is trustworthy. Storms come and go as do our enemies. They pop up unexpectedly to surprise us of our sinful nature. Out of nowhere a bad attitude spits out vial language. Our hearts are just as corrupt. And our hearts can harm us. Sin is what separates us from God and differentiates our natures from His. God was all man, but without sin. As long as we are in our mortal bodies, we must continually seek to overcome the battle within us. One day we will rejoice in our resurrected bodies and be free of the temptation of sin because of the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross. From the beginning of time, blood sacrifices were required but He was our great sacrifice!
