This verse is one time we know of God withdrawing Himself. There may be others certainly! Yes, this verse does talk directly of the nation of Israel. However, it might be fair and reasonable that we could draw a personal analogy. Our behavior and the attitude of our hearts may be so displeasing to God at least once in our life. In that case we should not be surprised when God seems a million miles away. We plead for His presence. We plead for His good pleasure. We plead for answers and nothing happens. Absolutely it is possible that God can withdraw His fellowship and blessing. We should respectfully guard against abstinence from time in His Word and communication with our Lord. Worship and obey and draw on His wise leadership.
