Many find it funny to say, “It is so hard to be humble!” That is no joking matter. The more we recognize the strength in humility, the more we crave it. Maybe it is a gift; I don’t know. If not, it absolutely is rewarding to all parties when we exercise it. In reality, it is not a badge of honor or it would not be humility. We don’t earn humility; we practice it by thinking of others better than ourselves. Call it a gift or call it surrender if you wish. In the final estimation, true humility comes to us when we are in communion with the magnitude of God’s greatness! Can we practice humility? One thing for certain is that scripture tells us that those who humble themselves will be exalted. TIP: I read in a devotional book recently something that says it quite well. “Humility doesn’t mean thinking less of yourself, it means thinking of yourself less!”
