“’Therefore, this is what the Lord says: I have returned to show mercy to Jerusalem. My Temple will be rebuilt, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, and measurements will be taken for the reconstruction of Jerusalem.’ Say this also: ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: The towns of Israel will overflow with prosperity, and the Lord will again comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem as his own.’” Zechariah 1:16-17
Steadfast love of Israel is shown when God tells Zechariah about His plans for Israel to be His own. He wanted to show mercy. Do we have love for anyone that would demonstrate that kind of actions? I would say, “NO”! That kind of love and mercy demonstrates that prophecy is real and one of these days Israel will be rewarded in spite of how they treated God in history. God’s intentions and promises are always to be trusted. We are witnessing some of that revelation today. We should rejoice in His steadfast commitment to Israel.
